I moved into the beauty industry only a few years back. Prior to owning Body & Face I worked for American Express, First Choice Holidays and finally Virgin Atlantic.
In total I spent 15 years working for these three well-known brands and that taught me a lot about Customer Service and the importance of quality of the products.
When the opportunity arose to buy Body & Face from the previous owner, I jumped at the chance as I believed that although my knowledge of beauty was limited, my knowledge in other areas would be a great complement to a team of beauty professionals.
Since taking over the salon in August 2007 we have been extremely focused on improving the quality of the salon both in terms of treatments and products available and the service that we offer to clients.
The improvements have been extremely well received by clients and we regularly receive positive praise and feedback from clients on the little things we do to help them enjoy their time with us. Our client base has more than doubled in this time and we believe that this is a direct result of the positive messages our existing clients pass on to their friends and family.
To help reward our loyal clients for this we introduced an Introduce a Friend scheme.
Whilst I don't carry out any treatments as I don't think I could ever be as good as the therapist team that we have in place, I am often at the salon. I work on reception a few days per week as it's a great place to find out what's happening in the business and it gives me the opportunity to meet and greet many clients.
On the days I am not in the salon I can mostly be found at home which fortunately is very close working on plans for the future, improvements and generally taking care of all the admin that comes with your own business.
